How long does it take to make a veneer?
The facings can generally be placed definitively 1 to 3 weeks after the treatment and taking the impressions at the dentist.
What are the costs of a veneer?

Costs of facings: transparency and customization

The costs for placing facings vary depending on various factors. On average, the costs per facing range between €600 and €900. This price includes both the technical costs and the treatment costs of the dentist.

The final price is influenced by, among other things:

  • The type of facing chosen.
  • The amount of tooth that needs to be ground.
  • The overall health of the teeth.
  • The number of facings needed.

Additionally, there may be extra costs for things such as making models and performing a color analysis. These costs are one-time and apply regardless of the number of facings.

For example, if only one facing is placed on a front tooth, the costs may be higher because all the necessary processes have to be applied to a single tooth. When multiple facings are manufactured simultaneously, the costs per facing may be lower.

Although we are not price fighters, we always strive to provide affordable, high-quality dentistry so that you not only get a beautiful but also a sustainable result.

Are crowns and veneers insured?

The reimbursement of facings by health insurance depends on your policy and the reason for the treatment. In some cases, facings are reimbursed, but often only when they are medically necessary, for example in cases of damage or severe wear of the teeth. Cosmetic treatments, such as improving the aesthetics of the smile, are usually not covered by the basic insurance.

Some supplementary insurances may offer reimbursement for aesthetic treatments, but this varies by insurer and policy. It is advisable to consult your health insurance to understand which costs are exactly covered and whether facings are included in your coverage. Your dentist can also assist you in obtaining a cost estimate for the treatment, which you can then submit to your insurer.

We recommend, in consultation with the dentist, to inquire with your health insurance about the cost estimate for your treatment.

Do my teeth always have to be ground down with veneers?
At EDT, we develop custom molds based on the test setup, ensuring minimal tooth tissue removal. In some cases, it is even possible to work without grinding. To accurately assess this, it is necessary to come by. Even better is to have impressions made with a test wax setup of the desired result, so you can be sure if and to what extent grinding is necessary.
How long do crowns and veneers last?

The lifespan of crowns and facings depends on the condition and care of your own teeth. The better you take care of your teeth, the longer the facings and crowns will last. Our crowns and facings are made from strong ceramic material and fit seamlessly to your teeth. Thanks to the tight fit and natural design, the lifespan is significantly extended.

The dentists we work with operate at the highest level and have a lot of experience. When the crowns and facings are placed correctly and oral hygiene is maintained, they can last for decades.

Can I still floss and use interdental brushes with veneers?
Yes, it is definitely possible and also recommended. A smile with dental veneers essentially requires the same oral hygiene as a "normal" natural smile. It is important to brush, floss, and maintain proper oral care regularly to optimize the lifespan of the veneers and preserve overall dental health.
Can I not eat certain foods with veneers and crowns?

Facings are designed to be strong and durable, but it is important to take certain precautions to maximize their lifespan. It is recommended to eat hard foods such as nuts, ice, or hard candies carefully, as they can damage or break the facings. Also, biting on objects like pens or nails can cause damage. Furthermore, it is important to maintain good oral hygiene and brush regularly to prevent gum problems.

If you have specific concerns about eating with facings, we can discuss this further and provide tailored advice.

Do you grind the teeth and also place the veneers and crowns?
No, that always happens by the dentist
Will crowns and veneers make my teeth stronger?

Facings can indirectly improve the strength of your teeth, especially when using porcelain facings. They provide a protective layer that helps stabilize the tooth and protect it from further damage, such as fractures or wear. The facing distributes the chewing forces across the tooth surface, reducing the load on the underlying tooth. This effect is particularly noticeable in teeth that are already weakened by factors such as tooth decay or wear.

While facings do not directly strengthen the structure of your tooth, they can contribute to the preservation and stability of the tooth, making it feel stronger and protected against further damage in practice.

Compared to facings, a crown often provides an even greater level of protection, as it completely encloses and stabilizes the tooth. Nevertheless, it is wiser to choose facings when there is still sufficient tooth tissue present instead of a crown.
