Damage in the molars is often filled with a filling material such as amalgam or composite. This is often not ideal due to the strength, wear resistance, color (amalgam), or color fastness of the materials. If the molars are too damaged due to fracture or caries, there is not enough material left to crown them and too much to fill them with a filling material. A ceramic inlay/onlay is an ideal solution for this. An inlay/onlay is a custom-made, fully ceramic replacement/restoration that closely mimics nature and is indistinguishable from real teeth. Due to the glassy and natural properties of feldspathic ceramic, ceramic inlays integrate very well. Once placed, a ceramic inlay is a strong and durable product. Many people have their amalgam fillings removed for aesthetic and/or health reasons, and a ceramic inlay/onlay is a perfect solution for this.
PROCEDURE:
The dentist assesses the situation and prepares (grinds) the teeth if necessary. Then, the dentist takes dental impressions and sends them to us (the dental laboratory). The patient comes to the laboratory where we take professional digital mouth photos and perform a detailed color analysis, or the dentist analyzes the color themselves. Based on this data, we craft artisanal ceramic inlays and onlays.
